By downloading, installing, or using Cypher ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App. These terms supplement the Apple Standard End-User License Agreement (EULA). In the event of a conflict, these terms take precedence to the extent permitted.
TopDogs Oy ("we", "us") grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any Apple device that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple App Store Terms of Service. This license is for personal or internal business use.
Cypher is a native macOS application for creating and storing encrypted notes. All notes are encrypted using AES-256 encryption and stored exclusively on your Mac. The App does not connect to the internet, has no cloud sync, and does not transmit any data.
You are solely responsible for remembering your encryption passwords. Cypher uses strong encryption that cannot be bypassed. TopDogs Oy does not have access to your passwords or your encrypted data. If you forget your password, your encrypted notes cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

While Cypher employs industry-standard AES-256 encryption, no security measure is absolute. We do not guarantee that the encryption cannot be compromised under all circumstances. The App should not be used as the sole safeguard for highly sensitive information where a breach could cause severe harm.
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which describes what data the App handles and how it is stored. In summary: we collect no data. Everything stays encrypted on your Mac.
The App, including its code, design, graphics, and documentation, is the intellectual property of TopDogs Oy and is protected by copyright and other applicable laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on the App, except as expressly permitted by applicable law.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Your notes are stored locally and encrypted on your device. You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data. We are not liable for any data loss, including loss resulting from forgotten passwords.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TopDogs Oy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or business opportunities arising from your use of the App. This includes, without limitation, any liability for data loss resulting from forgotten passwords, device failure, or software issues.
Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.
This license is effective until terminated. Your rights under this license will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any of these terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and destroy any copies in your possession. Your encrypted data remains on your device and is not affected by license termination.
We may update these terms from time to time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Helsinki, Finland, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.
